Pete and James
We really love this same-sex wedding in San Francisco that we photographed this summer. Pete and James have an incredible passion for life and for each other. The love that surrounded them all day was palpable. From their first photos before the wedding all the way to their first dance, they were just so happy! We adored every single moment.
How They Met
Pete and James first met about five years ago, when they both attended a mutual friend's baby shower. It was a brief meeting, but they both remember that day. Later, they celebrated Independence Day at the Russian River and their relationship blossomed from that day on.
A year later, they were engaged, and four years later they were wed. And we were honored to photograph that special day!
San Francisco Wedding Photos
Whenever possible, we like to photograph couples before the wedding ceremony. This allows for more time for the couple to really enjoy their day, each other, and all of their guests. We were fortunate to get a ton of photos of Pete and James before the ceremony.
We first snapped some photos when they and their wedding party had finished getting ready. Check out these photos at the very beginning of the gallery below. We loved the facade of this building, with the black and white tile beneath their feet. After these shots, we went right to the roof for photos of the grooms with a stunning view of San Francisco behind them.
Other wedding photos that we were lucky to get were located in and around the Presidio. These even included the iconic Lyon Street Steps just outside the Presidio! The photos of the grooms atop these steps are some of our favorite from the day.
Same-Sex Wedding in San Francisco
Pete and James fell in love with the Swedenborgian Church in Presidio Heights instantly. It's notably a very welcoming, accepting church, which sometimes is difficult to find for same-sex weddings in San Francisco. Even more importantly, it's a remarkably beautiful, old building. We adore this original brick building in this historic area. The Swedenborgian Church of San Francisco has been standing since 1895, and openly welcoming same-sex weddings since 1978.
After their beautiful ceremony and a few photos outside the church, we all headed for Gallery 308. Located in the nearby Presidio, this is a great venue for a reception. Pete and James actually had originally booked the Green Restaurant for their reception. Unfortunately, Greens had a fire in their restaurant and they had to find a different venue on short notice. Luckily, Gallery 308 came through for them!
Thank you to Pete and James for sharing your beautiful day with us.
