The first thought that comes to mind from this wedding is the personality. Seriously, so much personality in every single moment. This is a break-from-the-mold type of wedding and we are so excited to share this one with you.
Our favorite big moments: an intimate backyard ceremony, the VW beetle, and just a full embrace of our hometown San Leandro.
Plus, this bride. Isn’t Megan adorable?! Those heart glasses, her cute retro style…we LOVE it.

A San Leandro Wedding
Megan and Omar are San Leandro locals (or, very close!), and have lots of friends and family in the area. Like many couples, a big goal for them was to keep costs down as much as possible when it came to the wedding. Luckily one of their friends has a lovely backyard that was perfect for their ceremony. It was an intimate, beautiful backyard wedding and we were honored to capture every moment.
After the lovely ceremony, we took their classic VW bug to Grass Valley in Oakland for some woodsy photos before the reception. This Oakland neighborhood is known for the Oakland Zoo but is also home to a tunnel of eucalyptus trees. We love that they chose this spot for wedding photos. It was a great place to bring their VW bug and pose for lots of adorable shots.
San Leandro Veterans’ Memorial Building
Megan and Omar kept the wedding very local and close to home, which we love. The San Leandro Veterans’ Memorial Building is less than ten minutes from the eucalyptus tunnel, so it was just a quick drive to the reception after our photo shoot.
Almost every single part of the wedding was DIY. Sure, this is a budget conscious decision, but it also results in pieces that have so much soul and love behind them.
Everyone had a marvelous time celebrating Megan and Omar for the rest of the day. Together they munched on delicious food from Pampas Empanadas alongside homemade desserts.
There were so many laughs and tears throughout the day and we were honored to have been a part of it all. Congratulations, Megan and Omar! We wish you all the happiness in the world.
